MORE OSCAR AND FRANK

Guest - John T.Richards (website) on Saturday, 08 August 2025 16:41

To say the least, I am elated to find this information on the early Oscar, the photo of the foundry and Guido Nelli that also relates to the casting of my great-grandfathers statue.

TEN YEARS AFTER

We seem to have fallen further down the slippery slope.

What do you think?...or are we thinking at all?

My mother, Brenda Ruth Steunenberg, born 8/26/1918 in Caldwell Idaho

Idaho Daily Statesman Tuesday, August 27, 1918

She is rather young but Gramps has her on the tractor! Love ya Mom!

Maybe a year old or a few month more. Circa 1919-1920. No location indicated but likely Sunnyslope or Caldwell ID.

Looks to be Caldwell circa 1919 or early 1920 again. My mother Brenda the littlest one on the far left.

I could go for a STEUNENBERGER right about now!

My mother (Brenda Steunenberg Richards) at the Olde Towne Eatery at 712 Main Street (Steunenberg Block) in Caldwell, Idaho. Undated photo 1960's (?). Maybe more like the 1970's. Not sure if I was there on that occasion or not. Below is a screenshot of the vacant location as of the last Google photo 2019.

We can see the same green and white tile and vents below the window as in the photo of my mother Brenda. I had been wondering if any of the signs and related items still existed. Glad to see some have found there way to the museum.

Just recently I discovered the following photographs on the Facebook page for the Historical Museum in Caldwell.

SLOW DOWN GRANDPA JULIAN! The Caldwell Tribune, Saturday, July 17, 1909

 The very first....

On the same date in the Caldwell Tribune:

Perhaps Grandma Francis (Beardsley Wood) Steunenberg was waiting for Julian to arrive with the next load of their belongings at the home on Dearborn Street.
